Dedrick Roak – Advanced Site Preparation in Catskill, NY
Client: Elle Barton
Date: Jan, 2024
Location: Dedrick Rd. Catskill, Ny
Area: 1000sf
Take a look at how we skillfully managed a complex site preparation for a future Barnhouse.
Project Overview
This project showcases our precision and innovative approach to adapting to a landscape dominated by rock ledges, setting the foundation for a unique residential construction designed to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings.
Site Preparation
Our team performed an extensive site preparation process at Dedrick Road, a site characterized by a rock ledge extending the length of the property from North to South.
The initial work included removing all trees to clear the area for the upcoming construction of a 2-bedroom, 1.5-bath barnhouse and its necessary infrastructure.
Infrastructure Solutions
Our skilled in-house operators and excavators performed rock demolition using a large excavator with a hammer. We removed a 100-foot stretch of rock 12 feet wide, which we then used to raise the grade between two rock outcrops where the driveway is now positioned. A 15-inch covert pipe was installed to manage runoff, meeting local highway department requirements and ensuring the site’s long-term sustainability.
Machinery and Techniques Used
The construction of Snydertown Road utilized high-end materials and state-of-the-art technology to ensure durability and comfort.

The Process
Our process started by preparing the site perfectly, and through that, we corrected the rocky terrain using strategic excavation and rock demolition.
The construction phase was all about collaborating with the client every step of the way to ensure that every feature, from cathedral ceilings in the living areas to the huge sliding doors and an entirely open floor plan, was just how they envisioned.
Future Plans
The thorough preparation of the site sets the stage for the next phase of construction, which includes the installation of a raised septic system and the building of a 1000 sq. ft., 2-bedroom, 1.5-bath barnhouse.
Meticulous and strategic groundwork ensures the future home will be secure and integrated seamlessly with its natural surroundings.
